This training is designed to help you experience the power of touch and benefits of hands-on-assists, both as a practitioner and a teacher. As a practitioner, you will gain insights into your own body, including your own postural, movement, and compensation patterns. As a teacher, this training is an opportunity to explore the power of your own touch and expand your assist techniques while refining your understanding of alignment and compensation patterns through observing and working with other trainees’ bodies.
This training focuses on two aspects: touch and assist, which are two sides of the same coin. On one hand, assists are grounded in functional anatomy and alignment principles. They are NOT following rigid rules about shapes or strict “how-to” instructions for poses; rather, each assist is specific to the intention behind the pose or movement we are working with and what we observe in the body we are assisting. While a rational understanding of anatomy, postural patterns, and joint alignment is important, it must be paired with the sensitivity of touch, which is the other side of the coin. Sensitivity of touch relies on intuition and your own experience as both a movement practitioner and a teacher. Thus, our approach also emphasizes sensitivity, intuition, and communication through touch—qualities you will explore and develop throughout this weekend.

With a Master's degree in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology, as well as a second Master's in Dance from the Royal Academy of Dance, Willemieke's approach emphasizes the connection between movement and personal expression. She believes that true connective movement arises from being fully present in each moment, embodying the essence of the movement rather than viewing it as mechanical. During this training, Willemieke will guide you in exploring a deeper level of expression and self-development, helping you unlock your movement's full potential while fostering an authentic and transformational practice.
