01

The five core components of a barre class
You will gain a clear understanding of the essential building blocks that make up a well-structured barre class. From Grounding, where students arrive, centre, and connect to breath and posture, through Activation, designed to warm up the body and awaken muscular engagement, into Centre Barre and Barre Sequences, the heart of the class where strength, balance, and alignment are challenged and refined. The journey concludes with Restore & Release, allowing the body to lengthen, integrate, and recover.
Using our comprehensive exercise library as a framework, you will not only learn the individual components but also how to sequence them effectively.
02

Foundational barre exercises, in depth
An in-depth exploration of the core repertoire of barre movements. You will study each foundational exercise with a focus on correct alignment, muscular engagement, and breath integration, ensuring that movements are performed both effectively and safely. Special attention is given to progressions and regressions, helping you adapt exercises to suit beginners, intermediate students, and those with specific needs. You will also develop the ability to introduce modifications and variations that keep classes inclusive, challenging, and inspiring for a wide range of participants.
03

Practice teaching in a supportive group
Throughout the training, you will have the opportunity to step into the role of teacher and apply what you've learned in real time. In a supportive and encouraging setting, you will practise cueing, sequencing, and demonstrating exercises while refining your own teaching voice. Constructive feedback from Willemieke and peers will help you strengthen the clarity of your verbal instructions, the effectiveness of your physical demonstrations, and your overall presence and confidence as a teacher.

WHY THIS TRAINING MATTERS
Barre is everywhere, but good barre teaching is not. Many classes repeat the same pulses without a clear structure or a reason behind them.
This module starts from the base: the five components of a barre class, the core exercises understood through anatomy, and plenty of practice teaching in a supportive group.
It's the first half of our 50h Barre Teacher Training, and stands on its own if you want a strong start.
YOU'LL BE ABLE TO
Build a well-structured class from its five core components
Teach the foundational exercises with clear alignment cues
Adapt exercises to different levels and bodies
Lead your first classes with confidence

Who you'll learn from
Willemieke will guide you in deepening your understanding of anatomy, alignment, and embodied movement within the context of barre. She emphasises how anatomy and biomechanics underpin every exercise, ensuring that movement is both effective and safe. By weaving together breath, core engagement, and precise alignment, Willemieke helps you experience the intelligent foundation behind barre practice. Her ability to explain and demonstrate the interplay between posture, breath, and movement patterns will empower you to teach with clarity, while enabling clients to move with greater ease, grace, strength, and awareness.
I came in thinking I would 'just' learn some exercises, but I left with a deep understanding of how to truly guide others.
